Understanding LIC 602A and TB screening

What is an LIC 602A?
The LIC 602A, also called the Physician’s Report for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, is a California form used to document a prospective resident’s health information and care needs for an RCFE.
Facilities may use the completed report as part of their admission process to help determine whether they can safely meet a resident’s needs. Requirements and facility processes can vary, so confirm the documents your chosen facility needs before scheduling.
Why TB screening may be requested
California RCFEs commonly request tuberculosis screening documentation before admission. Depending on the person’s health history and screening results, this may involve a PPD skin test, a blood test, or other evaluation directed by a healthcare provider.
A chest X-ray may be ordered or coordinated when it is medically appropriate, such as when a screening result or medical history requires additional evaluation. A chest X-ray is not automatically required for every person.
